Inter-University Seminar on Armed Forces and Society (IUS) The Inter-University Seminar on Armed Forces and Society (IUS) is a forum for the interchange and assessment of research and scholarship in the social and behavioral sciences dealing with the military establishment and civil-military relations. To develop professional contacts between sociologists of armed forces and conflict resolution throughout the world; encourage the international exchange of research findings, theoretical developments, and methodologies in the sociology of armed forces and conflict resolution; promote the teaching of course materials dealing with armed forces and conflict resolution at undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate levels; and promote international meetings and research collaboration in the field of armed forces and conflict resolution. International Political Science Association (IPSA) The International Political Science Association (IPSA), founded under the auspices of UNESCO in 1949, is an international scholarly association. Its objectives are to promote the advancement of political science through the collaboration of scholars in different parts of the world. It has consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and with UNESCO. Military Academy (MILAK) at ETH Zurich MILAK is the training centre for professional officers of the Swiss Army and an internationally recognized centre of excellence for military sciences. Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF) The Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF) is one of the world's leading institutions in the areas of security sector reform (SSR) and security sector governance (SSG). Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) The Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) is an international foundation that was established in 1995 under Swiss law to "promote the building and maintenance of peace, security and stability". The GCSP was founded by the Swiss Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sports, in cooperation with the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, as a Swiss contribution to Partnership for Peace (PfP). Sociology and Leadership at the Swedish National Defence College Sociology represents one of the Swedish National Defence College's core academic disciplines. It is integrated into the Department of Leadership and Management (ILM), which has three professorships in the following disciplines: sociology, psychology, and educational sciences.
